Is a wet suit allowed for the swim?
The water should be warm enough, and no wetsuit is allowed. Back to top

What does the swim course look like?
The swim courses are in rectangle, starting at the sea outside Disneyland Resort Pier (Western Concourse). You may refer to the course map for detail. Back to top

What is the starting mechanism?

Are there any special rules about the swim suit?
Swim suits covering any part of your arms or extending below the knee is not be allowed. Back to top

How and where will the Relay Team Handover take place?
The relay handover zone will be situated at the Transition Area. The Hand Over will be done by the transfer of the Champion Chip from the swimmer to the cyclist and cyclist to runner. Back to top

Where do I put my cycling and running kits?
There is a designated area known as the 'Transition Area' where each competitor will have an area to rack one's bike and put other gear such as helmet, cycling shoes, clothing, etc. Upon completing the swim/bike, you will run to this area to collect your bicycle. Back to top

Any there any special rules related to the Transition Area?
Yes. Athletes have to put on and fix the helmet before taking the bike and have to rack the bike after the leg before removing helmet. No photo taking or video shooting is allowed. Back to top

What does the bike course look like?
This is a flat and little bit hilly bike course along the scenery of Magic Road, Inspiration Lake ,Sunny Bay Road and Shum Shui Kok Drive. Back to top

Will there be a bike inspection before the OSIM 2008 Hong Kong ITU Triathlon Asian Cup?
All participants are encouraged to have your bike inspected by professional bike shop. Its participants' responsibility to ensure your bike is in working condition. Please note that only the participants taking part in the Elite categories will have their bicycles inspected prior to the race briefing on Friday, 14 November 2008. Back to top

Is it compulsory to wear a helmet during the bike section?
Yes. For your own safety, cycling helmets are compulsory during the cycle leg of the race. The helmet must be securely fastened at all times when the competitor is in possession of the bicycle, i.e., from the time before they remove their bicycle from the rack at the start of the cycle, to until they have racked their bicycle on the rack after finishing the bike leg. What is drafting?
Drafting means deliberately taking advantage of the "Draft" created by a moving object (such as a cyclist or other vehicle) to race faster or with less effort. Back to top

Is drafting allowed in the OSIM 2008 Hong Kong ITU Triathlon Asian Cup?
Drafting will only be allowed between competitors of the same sex in the Elite wave. All Age Groupers are not allowed to draft. Back to top

How do I avoid Drafting?
You can avoid drafting by making sure that, other than passing another cyclist, your front wheel should remain at least 5 meters behind the back wheel of the cyclist in front of you. 5 meters is approximately 2 bicycles length. Back to top

What if I wish to overtake the cyclist in front of me?
If you wish to overtake the cyclist in front of you, you have 15 seconds to go from 5 meters behind them, to your front wheel being in front of their front wheel. Back to top

What if another cyclist passes me?
If another cyclist passes you, it is your responsibility to ensure that your front wheel remains at least 5 meters behind his rear wheel. Back to top

How do the draft marshals enforce the rules?

Is there any drink station on the bike course?
No. There will be no drink stations on the bike leg. We recommend that you to stock up enough water in your drinking bottle for the cycle leg. Back to top

What sort of bike should I use?
There are no stringent requirements on the type of bike. Back to top

Are there any special rules and information relating to the bike course?
- The bike course will be closed to all vehicles except emergency vehicles and local residential traffic.
- Keep cycling on the left except when overtaking, so that other road users and cyclists can overtake.
- Remain courteous to all other users at all time.
- Do not cross the white line in the center of the road, offenders may be disqualified for dangerous riding.

Is transport to and from the race venue be provided and how much does it cost?
Yes. The transportation cost is HK$130 including the transportation for the bike. Back to top

Is parking space available at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Area and how much does it cost?
Yes. Parking spaces are available at Hong Kong Disneyland Carpark located at the Fantasy Road. The operating hours is 8:00am - 8:00pm, and it charges HK$120 for whole day parking. You are recommended to take the official transport to the race venue. Back to top

How to use the Champion Chip?
Chips are attached to an ankle with the strap provided. Do not attach it too firmly or else your ankle will swell up during the event. The central tube of the chip should be pointing downwards. Back to top

Will there be on-site race briefing?
No. There will be a pre- race briefing and race pack collection being held on 26 October (12:00 noon and 4:00pm) and 30 October (6:30pm to 10:00pm) at the Olympic House, 1 Stadium Path, So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. Athletes are compulsory to attend the race briefing. Back to top
